Spy Shots: 2008 Honda Accord V6

Chris Doane has done it again. The latest Accord to be caught by this ace spy photographer is apparently the 2008 Honda Accord V6. Note the dual rear exhausts when you click through to see the full-size pics at Straightline. Another lightly-disguised sedan undergoing final testing, this V6 differs little from the previous base sedan we showed you a couple of weeks ago. Slightly different 7-spoke wheels and a sunroof are the only apparent changes besides the dual pipes out back. Oh, and one interior shot shows a fairly large binnacle for the nav system in the top center of the dash. Not meant to set the design world atwitter, the new Accord is inoffensive if not handsome. The sedan styling echoes that of the Accord coupe that was unveiled as a concept last January in Detroit and has also been captured by Brenda Priddy & Company.

Honda discontinuing hybrid Accord

Honda will discontinue the hybrid version of its Accord sedans, the company said today, ceding Toyota's dominance of the market with its Prius hybrid.

Honda Motor Co., Japan's No. 2 automaker, will continue to make gas-and-electric models of its Civic sedan, but stop offering the hybrid Accord, company officials said in Tokyo. The Accord hybrid, sold only in North America, was a dud, selling just 25,000 since going on sale in 2004, and just 6,100 last year. Toyota Motor Corp.'s Prius hybrid is the market leader, with 729,800 units sold since December 1997. The Accord hybrid's U.S. sales totaled just 439 last month, while Toyota sold 24,000 Prius cars during the same period.

Police blotter: DUIs and gas theft

At about 12:15 a.m. June 2, an officer was patrolling the area of C-470 and Yosemite Street when he observed an SUV traveling north on Yosemite Street toward Chester Street. The officer reported the vehicle was weaving, and initiated a traffic stop. Police said the driver, a 33-year-old Highlands Ranch man, smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot, watery eyes. When asked if he had been drinking, the man replied, "A little," according to a report. After allegedly failing voluntary roadside maneuvers, the man was arrested on investigation of DUI and later released.

At about 11 p.m. June 1, police were patrolling the parking lot of the United Artists movie theater, 9355 Park Meadows Drive. Police said they observed the driver of a black Isuzu Trooper throw trash out of the window of the vehicle, according to a report.

Make a Date for Beaulieu

MAKE A DATE for the 13th Motorcycle World event taking place on 23rd and 24th June at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu. One of the biggest and most successful motorcycle shows in the South, it attracts up to 30,000 motorcycling enthusiasts annually. This year there will be a big, outdoor screen showing coverage of the British Moto GP at Donington Park, so you can see all the weekend's biking action in one place. Headlining in the Arena for 2007 are the UK's hottest FMX riders, in an action packed display of airborne acrobatics. The machines are modified MotoX bikes with stiffer suspension designed to cope with the hard landings. The motorcycles also have a number of other modifications essential to equip them for the strains and stresses of this extreme sport. The riders are pure athletes who have taken the sport of Motor-Cross to the next level of entertainment and perform acrobatic stunts over ramps between 50 -80 feet long.
