Museum to showcase 22 automobiles as art

Streamlining was the slickest trend of the 1930s, with everything from telephones to toasters designed to evoke aerodynamic speed. For automobiles, the result was some of the most beautiful sculptural forms ever put on four wheels. Some of the great designers in Europe and America produced vehicles crafted to not only cheat the wind but to appear graceful and elegant. Twenty-two of history's most significant streamlined automobiles will be assembled Sunday at the Phoenix Art Museum for a two-month exhibit that celebrates the artistry of aerodynamics. .
